Cataract Treatment

What Are Cataracts?

In a healthy eye, the lens is clear and transparent. Cataracts occur when the lens becomes cloudy, preventing light from reaching the back of the eye and leading to blurred or reduced vision.

Over time, cataracts can worsen, causing your vision to become increasingly cloudy. A straightforward procedure can replace the cloudy lens with an artificial one, restoring clear vision.

Glaucoma Treatment

What is Glaucoma?

The eyes produce a fluid known as aqueous humour, which typically drains out to maintain stable pressure. If this drainage becomes obstructed, it can lead to ocular hypertension, or elevated eye pressure. Glaucoma develops when this increased pressure damages the optic nerve, leading to visual disturbances.

Acute angle-closure glaucoma, on the other hand, occurs when a sudden spike in pressure results from a blockage in the eye’s drainage system. This condition is more commonly seen in individuals who are long-sighted or have smaller eyes.

Macular Degeneration Treatment

What is Macular Degeneration?

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye condition that impacts a tiny but crucial part of the retina at the back of the eye, known as the macula. Approximately the size of a pinhead, the macula contains highly sensitive cells that enable sharp, detailed central vision.

In AMD, changes to the macula can cause central vision problems. Initially, tasks like reading may become difficult as text appears distorted. Over time, a blank or dark spot may develop in the centre of your vision, making everyday activities more challenging.

Retinal Treatments

Vitreoretinal Surgery is a specialised procedure addressing conditions affecting the retina and vitreous of the eye.

The retina is located at the back of the eye and acts like the film in a camera, capturing light and visual images before transmitting them to the brain through the optic nerve. At its centre lies the macula, a vital region responsible for sharp central vision, allowing us to read, recognize faces, and perceive colours.

At Clarity, our experienced surgeons and state-of-the-art technology ensure the best possible care and outcomes for patients with retinal conditions, such as epiretinal membranes and macular holes.

Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)

Eyelid lift (Blepharoplasty) is one of the most commonly performed functional and cosmetic facial plastic surgeries. This procedure is designed to improve the contours of the upper and lower eyelid areas, enhancing both appearance and function.

The surgery involves removing excess skin and muscle from the upper or lower eyelids, while the underlying fat may either be reduced or repositioned to create a more youthful and refreshed look.

Upper eyelid surgery targets the area between the eyebrow and the eyelashes, addressing sagging skin that can obstruct vision or cause a tired appearance. In contrast, lower eyelid surgery focuses on the area between the eyelashes and the cheek, treating puffiness, wrinkles, and under-eye bags to restore smoother, firmer contours.
