As we age, the delicate skin around the eyes naturally loses its firmness and elasticity. The effects of gravity become most striking here, often leading to a sagging, heavy look that can make you appear perpetually tired.
Blepharoplasty, or Eyelid Surgery, is one of the most effective ways to address this. The procedure is performed to precisely remove the excess skin (known as dermatochalasis), muscle, and in some cases, reposition the fat around the eyelids. This expertly restores a significantly more youthful, brightened appearance to the entire face.
Crucially, in certain instances, this procedure also serves a functional purpose by removing skin that obstructs your vision, helping you to truly see what 2026 has to bring clearer than ever!
We understand that every patient is unique. Depending on your needs, we may perform an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, a lower eyelid blepharoplasty, or a combination of both to achieve the optimal cosmetic and functional result for you.
In the skilled hands of Clarity surgeons, blepharoplasty is a safe and reliable procedure, offering both functional and aesthetic improvements. The surgery is performed under local anaesthetic, ensuring a painless experience.
For an upper eyelid lift, the surgeon begins by carefully marking areas with excess skin, fat, or muscle. An incision is then made along the natural crease of the eyelid, allowing for the removal of any surplus tissue. In patients with dry eyes, less tissue is removed to prevent increased exposure to air and worsening of symptoms.
Once the adjustments are made, the incision is closed, and the resulting scar is discreetly hidden within the natural fold of the eyelid. Sutures, adhesive strips, or tissue glue are carefully applied to smooth the area around the eyelid and eyebrow, promoting proper healing and a natural appearance.
For a lower eyelid lift, the incision is made either just below the eyelashes or inside the lower eyelid. Through this incision, the surgeon removes or repositions excess fat to eliminate puffiness or under-eye bags. If necessary, additional support for the muscles and tendons may be provided before closing the incision to ensure long-lasting results.
Both procedures are designed to restore a more youthful and refreshed look while maintaining the natural contours of the eyes.
